can't connect OE to ISP

Check the names of your SMTP and POP3 e-mail servers to make sure they are the same as your ISP's.

and IMAP settings if you use that and not pop3

also check user name and password

Thank you for your reply.  I have tried what you suggested with no success.

In searching around for something that works, I tried Dell Support and clicked on Scan Computor.  The scan ran until 98%, then stopped and gave message: could not validate the file gdiagdwc.cai.  Have any idea what that means?

Thank you for replying about not being able to connect to isp from oe.  I note in your reply to Jim Beck about e mail problem that you do not think Symantec stuff is necessary on new Dell.  I have downloaded Symantec and have suspected that  as giving me some problems.  Am I right about your views.

No, it just an issue of configuration for the firewall prodcut from syamantec.  You must allow Ports 25 & 110 to pass thru and connect.
