Can't get an IP address on wireless network
Can't get an IP address on wireless network. The message says I have limited connectivity. The other items on the wireless network are working fine. Not sure what the problem is.

help77777,
Try running Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and post the rest of the information back here.
Also provide the virus program and firewall you're using.

Hi,
Try this
1) Turn off your router
2) Turn off all other devices
3) Turn on router
4) Turn on this computer which had limited connectivity
5) If you still have limited connectivity then proceed further
6) Hit start > search or Start > run, type 'cmd' and hit enter.
7) In the black window type 'ipconfig' hit enter
8) Under 'Wireless LAN adapter/Wireless Network connection' check the IP address, post that IP address here.

Hello, I am having the same issue as the original post.
Last month, I opened my laptop and noticed it wasn't connected to the internet. I ran the Network Troubleshooting utility, which was virtually useless. After running the utility, an unresolved error appeared "Cannot obtain valid IP address".
I logged into our router (extension) to look at the settings, and noticed the firmware was out of date. I upgraded the firmware. I also removed all of the stored wireless networks from my Dell network manager and rebooted. After the router firmware upgrade and cleaning out the networks with a fresh reboot, my computer connected to the internet again as if nothing had ever happened.
However, it has only been a month and the same issue has returned. I used an ethernet cable to first test the internet connection. It connects to the internet without an issue. My other wifi devices all connect to the same wifi extender without issue. As long as I am plugged in, everthing is OK. However, as soon as I disconnect the ethernet cable, my wifi attempts to automatically connect to our network and fails with the yellow triangle of "no internet access".
This is frustrating because I work from home and need a reliable connection. I gathered all of my system info in hopes someone here can help me resolve this issue permanently. Any help would be super extra appreciated.
