Can't get to any secured links

Help!!  I am unable to get into any secured links.  I am getting a message that my security settings do not allow active X controls.  I have done everything the help screens tell me to do and I still cannot get into them.  I get "Page cannot be displayed" - cannot find server or DNS error.  I am not very experienced with computers but I know some....could I have deleted the "ActiveX" stuff in error?  If so what do I do now?
I have restarted my computer and modem....
I have changed my security settings.... Deleted my cookies and files....
I am not sure whose problem this is (other than mine) do I call Dell, or my server or who?
Does anyone out there know how to help?
Please Help me!!!!:smileysad:

Did you install the ActiveX control for those particular sites?  It sometimes appears as a popup just below the address bar.

I've got the same problem, but only with two specific and commonly used sites - paypal and amazon. I have gone through security setttings and 'host' settings with a friendly man from paypal support, and he was stumped. Any ideas yet? Other secure sites work fine, such as banking. I'm not very cmputer literate. I've installed Mozilla Firefox browser to make sure it wasn't just internet expolrer. I'm on Windows XP.

Thanks for the reply, I have been trying to get the Active X download but I can't get into the site to get it.  A friend told me that she thinks it's some sort of Adware attached to my files.  I am still trying.

I downloaded Microsoft Spyware in case it was adware, but that hasn't helped! I already have Active X.
