Can't install network driver after I re-installed windows
I have just re-installed windows vista on my dell inspirion 1545 laptop and I'm now installing the drivers and utilities using the CD, however i am having trouble installing the network drivers that appear under "My System" , the "Intel WiFi Link 5100" will not install and when i try to extract it i get a message saying "please insert disk #1 into disk drive" but i do not have this or any other disks to insert so i dont know what to do.
Also another network driver will not install which is called "Dell Wireles 1515 (11agn) WLAN half mini-card Atheros" but i don't think i have or need this but just thought i'd mention if it does relate to the problem i have..
thank you very much in advance of any replies

tdigregorio1,
The Desktop/Notebook Utility needs to be installed first(if applicable), then the chipset drivers. If they are NOT installed first, then the rest of the drivers will fail to install.
How to Install Drivers in Microsoft® Windows® on Dell Systems
Since the operating system was re-installed did you remember to go to drivers and downloads, enter your service tag(DO NOT POST SERVICE TAG here or your post will get deleted, since it contains your personal information), and install these drivers in this order.
:emotion-55: Hint :emotion-55: When downloading the drivers, make a folder for each drivers and name it with the device it belongs with to make it easier to install them in the proper order.
Desktop System Software or Notebook System Software(if applicable)
Chipset or SMBus driver
Processor Driver (if applicable)
Video
Audio (sound)
Input Drivers (keyboard/mouse)
Modem
Network Card
QuickSet(Laptop only)

thanks for the reply, yeah i did realise this after i installed the drivers, but all the other drivers installed correctly and i read someone who's had a similar problem and it didnt make a difference when they installed the notebook + chipset drivers first but i will try it and see if it works.
Thank you.
