centrino and netgear

I have a centrino mobile and lately I bought a the router.. my computer recognizes that the netgear router is there, but will not let me connect.. do I need a card or do I need to change some settings on my computer.  please give me some advice!!?  bewildered scooby

Hey mate,

Same boat here.  Bought a D-Link router.  They have basically told me to switch off and uninstall any firewall software on my laptop as there is one inbuilt in the wireless router.

They also mentioned something about updating the MTU size in the registry so it's a maximum of 1000.

I don't know how to do this yet or what it really means either.

thanks for the website.. it did state though that a network card was used.. do I need one??

For wireless, you would need a card (did you order one with the notebook?).  For wired, just use the ethernet RJ-45 connector.
