Connected to Wireless Router but not able to connect to the net

Sarithi,

Note that if you are changing the connection to modem between a computer and a router, you need to do a complete reset of the network every time you make the change. To do this, shut everything off. Wait about 5 minutes. Turn on the modem first, and wait another 5 minutes. Then turn on the device that is connected directly to the modem (either the router or the computer), then turn on any other computers that will connect through the router.

Hi Steve,

Thanks. Your suggestion worked. I switched off my computer, wireless router and the broadband cable modem. Then switched on cable modem (without any connection - neither to the wireless modem nor to the computer) 5 minutes later. After 5 minutes connected the Router to the Cable model then went to sleep. Today morning when I boot my system, I was able to connect to my wireless modem and browse!!

Thanks
Sarathi

Hmm.. the same problem again. Today morning it was working fine. But after 3 or 4 hours of inactivity,
now back to the same problem. Again, the my wireless router is acting up. My system recognizes the
Wireless router. But I am not able to connect through the Wireless Router either wirelessly or using the
Ethernet cable!

I will post after trying the steps suggested by Steve. But why is it happening? Why my router is acting up?

Well, after following Steve's steps, my wireless router is working now.

My wireless connection is right now not secured - as I have reverted to
factory settings yesterday to slove this issue. Now I am going to tinker
with the router settings to make it secure.

Anyhow, I would like to find out why this is happening. Let me know where
I can find some kind of diagnostic tools to check out my router.

Thanks & Bye
Sarathi
