connecting second computer to a printer wireless adapter

Question

I have a printer up and running using a wireless adapter that was configured on one laptop. No problems.   I would like a second laptop to use the same printer.   I can do this by networking the two laptops (no problems).   BUT can I get the second laptop connect to the wireless adapter independently? (That way I do not have to have the first laptop running).   When I tried this by using the wireless adapter set up CD on the second laptop it just messed things up. When I tried to do this by using the printer install CD on the second laptop and entered the printer IP address, it just would not connect.   How can I do this?

make sure u have a hand under the printer icon in control panel under printers showing that you want to share the printer on the network. also make sure file and printer sharing is enabled. check your firewalls too

exactly right!

can't believe how much time i wasted -- just as you said -- i guess my other inspiron (with McAfee) let it go through -- the new with PC-illin) did not until I disabled the firewall then it was easy.
