Connecting to World Wide Web

I am having to type this from a different computer right now. Ever since I tried to use the check PC program on line from Dell and it locked up (The Program that is, not the lap top, not once but 4 times) I have been having problems trying to connect to the web. The only web site I am allowed to connect to is Dell. I have even tried to use the restore program and it will not even let me do that. I made contact via E-mail with tech support someone named ahnhish or something like that and was told I would have to call in. Several trys later waiting 20+ Mins each and no luck getting through. Soooooooo anyone out there who might be able to help me, I am open to suggestions. If The monitor read this some help PLEASE. I will try diabling the PC checkup control first, but I don't know if that will work or not. Again anyone who can help Please do.

                                                                                   Thanks, Dan

The computer is a Inspiron 6000, 2.0 ghz w/2.0 RAM using what I believe is a LAN cable hookup or to put it in laymans terms an oversized telephone connector. The LAN is equipped to handle 25 hookups at any one time. There are only four of us who use the LAN (and we each have our own computer,) during the morning hours and then the rest of the time the computer is physically disconnected from it and secured with me. I went and disabled the PC checkup program which has improved my situation somewhat but it is still very sluggish and I still cannot connect to common web sites like yahoo, walmart etc. If this helps you to help me, Thank You.

This sounds like you are connecting to a corporate Domain, is this correct?

We (25 of us) bought this system on our own here so we wouldn't have to go throught the corporate system which is very restrictive in a lot of areas. Thing is I can access my E-mails through the corp. sys. but not my own computer. I diabled the PC checkup program which has allowed my gain access to other sites but still cannot get yahoo or aol to work reference getting my e-mails. Any suggestions??

So let me get this straight. You are allowed to bring in your own PC into a corporate domain, or am I reading this all wrong?

I believe you are reading this wrong. First we are here in Baghdad, Iraq. Then, We have access to Coporate domain only through corp. desktop computers which, has alot of restrictions on it. But, we are allowed to do our personal E-Mail on the computers as a form of morale and welfare thing. Alot of us here have our own personal Lap Tops with us and we got together and purchased a Sat System from a Military unit that was rotating back Stateside. We use our Laptops on this separate system only and do not use them within the corparate domain. There are some people here who prefer not to have all the restrictions when they get on line. I myself like using it to tag all my music files which I have collected since being here for the last 18 months. Is this understandable now?? Anyway I am still unable to get access to yahoo or aol or msn messenger or any program of that nature plus my system is still sluggish as all getout. instead of performing as a 2.0 GZH it acts like a 200 MZH. I even hooked up to several other peoples line with no change.

Okay, I understand completely and hope the MWR thing works good for you.
The slowness you see is in the connectin and since I've never dealt with a sat comm connection, I think you need to run Dr TCP/IP tweak test from www.dslreports.com and see what adjustments need to be made.
The weather could be playing a lot in this also.
Very familiar with those SIPR & NIPR things.
