Connection Problems with New Inspiron 2200

A friend of mine recently purchased a new Inspiron 2200. She asked me to setup her internet connection at her apartment for her. I proceded as I normally would and plug in the network cable and ran through the network setup wizards. She is using DSL that is running through a network hub. I setup the connection to be used in this manner. After doing this I would get a connection to the network and would open IE. When it opened it was able to connect to specified web site but ran very very slow. It would load the top part of the page and rest of the pages pictures would be x-ed out. I checked the netowrk connection and it was receiving packets at an extremely slow rate. I know the network connection is good because she was running a very old dell on the same connection with no issues. If anyone can give me some tips on how to fix this issue I would greatly appreciate it. The other computers on the network connect just fine.

is the NIC the broadcom 440? if so you will have to static set your ip because the dhcp is useless on the new broadcoms for some unknown reason.

Actually I was able to solve the problem. Turns out the cat-5 cable had gone bad and data wasn't transferring properly. Bought a new cable and now the machine flies.
