Connection with wireless router/internet does not switch off at PC shutdown

When I shutdown the PC my connection to the wireless router first switches off but then reconnects again, thereby preventing shutdown. Clicking on the shutdown button a second time does actually shuts down the computer. Any idea for a solution to this problem?
