D600 - Wired connection is working; can't get wireless to work

Question

I had to replace the hard drive on this laptop and reinstall XP. I reinstalled drivers from the installation CD set.

Connecting the cable to my Netgear router gets me access to the internet. I can see my wireless routers (I have two in my home) but I cannot sucessfully connect to a wireless networ. When I click on the Repair on the Wireless Network Connection, it goes throught the expected sequences and actually says it is connected. But then it always show the red x for disconnected then it appears to cycle throught both routers trying to establish the connection.

On the Network Connections I see three items. (See screen image below.)

1. Local Area Connection - Broadcom 570x Gigabit Integrated Controller. It show "Connected" The cable is plugged in now so I suppose that is the connection.

2. Network Bridge. - MAC Bridge Miniport - Disabled. I'm not sure what this device is.

3. Wireless Network Connection - Dell Truemobile 1300 WLAN Mini PCI Card - "Not connected"

I powered down/powered up the wireless routers - no help.

ipconfig /renew yields the following result:

I have two other computers on my home network. They both can see and access the internet through the same wireless routers - they are working fine.

A couple of things,

Did you setup the router? How to login to your wireless router and try using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings, I use channel 11.

If it was setup, try turning off the ISP Modem/router and your wireless router for 30 seconds. Then turn on the ISP modem/router, wait 30 seconds, then turn on the wireless router. This resets issues that happen during electrical storms and power flickers.

I updated the drivers. Connecting this computer to the wireless network now seems a bit more stable. However, it still will not find the internet via the router.

I have configured the IP address in the TCP/IP properties vs. Obtain automatically (see attached screen), Current pconfig /all results are as follows:

I'm not sure why you are setting the IP addresses to static.

With my internet from Verizon DSL, Comcast cable internet, AT&T mobile broadband, and T-mobile mobile broadband, my network is set to obtain IP automatically.

I resolved my issue ... thanks for you inputs

I was using the the wrong passkey for the router. Interestingly, it would not give me an error message saying I had entered an invalid key. The windows Internet Explorer diagnostic feature suggested that it was the problem.
