Dell 1397 WLAN card drivers for Windows 8

I am having the exact same problem. I have an Inspiron 1464 with Dell 1397 wireless half mini card. It worked well with Win 7 but having problems with wireless connection ever since I upgraded to Win 8 couple of days back.

I think its Dell's responsibility to provide the latest working drivers asap.

I would like to inform you Dell uploads Drivers/updates/developments only after testing it and make sure it’s stable for a particular system model. Drivers for Windows 8 on Inspiron 1545 are unavailable on our Dell website as of now. Kindly bare with us.

Do you have any updates on this driver?  I have now had Windows 8 for over a month, and still no driver update?  Is there any sort of timeline for this, or do I need to roll back to Windows 7?

On some occasions, clicking the network icon in Windows 8's notification bar does nothing even the said device is present in the Device Manager. I presume it has driver problems that leaves users unable to connect to wireless networks. Please do reply asap on this matter. It's really giving me headaches.

Try installation of the Dell Wireless 1501 driver:

http://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER00878369M/13/DW1501_W8_X00_A00_Setup-NF03J_ZPE.exe

It should update the driver however installation failed in my 1390 card gave an "Update.cpc 828" error.

I'm having this issue with a Latitude E5500, and I'm not seeing a Win 8 driver for its 1397 WLSN Mini-Card out there. Will there be one released any time soon?

I tested the system with that wireless card on Windows 8.1 and it seems to work fine natively with Windows 8.1. What issues are you having with the wireless card?

I have a problem with Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card on my Dell Studio 1735 and windows 8.1.

My computer see all the wi-fi networks but cannot connect to any of them.

The setting was removed for the newer models.

This adapter will connect to 2.4GHz ONLY. Windows 8 will not support WEP Security.

Thanks, but I think it can be helpful in case of troubles with acsess to web pages if you CONNECTED to wi-fi network.

I even cant connect to wi-fi network.

My Network is work on 2,4 Ghz on 6 channel, and have WPA2 security. But I can`t connect to it using my laptop.

For example, I can connect iPhone 4S wi-fi hotspot using my laptop, but cant connect to my home network.

How cam you help?

Did you try WPA2-PSK(TKIP) Security (Personal)? Not all adapters will connect to WPA2-AES.

Try channel 11?

Check your virus program and firewall?

I have a dell 7537 that stopped being able to connect to wifi.  When I did the procedure above and looked under 'general'. It states that ' windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (code 43)

I don't know what to do next.   The internet connection icon is no longe 'bars' in the tray it show a box and red x. When I click on it it goes to networks and says no connections available.  When I trouble shoot it wants me to connect an Ethernet cable.  (Intel (r) wireless-n 7260)
