Dell 1500 draft N Will Not Connect

I just bought a E1505 with an internal draft n wireless card.  I have a Belkin pre-n router, and I can't get the laptop to connect to it.  It sees the network but never connects.  The wireless is completely open - no encryption, security, firewall, or mac filtering.  I even reset to factory default.  It has the most recent firmware.  I have another computer in the house that connects fine.  I downloaded the most recent Dell driver for the adapter from the support page.  Does anyone know what else I can do to make this work?

Unfortunately, I can't provide you with any help because I'm in the exact same situtation as you are. I just got my E1505 today with the draft N wireless card and I can't connect at all wirelessly. I know the card works because I was able to connect at a Barnes and Noble wireless access point, but I've tried everything at home and still can't connect. I honestly don't know what else I can try so I'm about to flat out give up. Sorry I can't be of help but it might be some consolation that you're not the only one with this problem. :[

I also know the card works because I can connect to my neighbor's router instantly (just can't connect to the Internet because his is secure).  I even have another Dell laptop from work (wireless G) that connects fine with the Belkin.  Does this card and this router just not get along?  Dell even sells the Belkin router on the website...

Just got off the phone with Dell after 58 minutes on hold..

all to find out that the 1500 is not compatible with the Belkin Pre-n.  Fun.  Guess now I get to buy a second wireless adapter since I just wasted $59 on this one.

Wow. Well, thanks for letting me know what's up. I am certainly not pleased that I'm going to have to buy a new card because Dell can't make proper hardware. :|

I'd be willing to bet the problem lies with the Belkin Pre-N router.  I know when many pre-N devices were originally release, there was no guarantee that they would be compatible or even upgradeable to 11n once ratified.  The Dell Wireless 1500 is based on the current 11n draft, the Belkin Pre-N router was developed before there was ever a working draft for 11n.

Same problem, Inspiron 9400 (equivalent to E1505), Dell 1500 WLAN draft 802.11n, Linksys WRT54GX with latest firmware.

Will not connect, though I have 5 other laptops (incl MacBook Pro) that connect at 108Mbps. Don't think the problem is with the router!! However, the Inspiron connects to the wireless network at work, but very slow by comparison.

Known issue... half-baked design.

Buy a Draft-N Router like one of the posters on this forum did and you should see the same as him.

No, we never got the 1500 to work. Dell sent a replacement, free, no questions asked. They didn't even want the 1500 back.

I don't recall what they sent... 1490 wireless card. or similar number I think. I think it's 802.11g, not draft-N. But it does work.
