Dell D810 OS reinstall drops network resources
I work in a mixed Novell/Windows 2003 business with close to 100 PCs (all windows 2000 Pro).
We recently purchased a Dell Latitude D810 with XP Pro. I was instructed to delete the OS and configure W2K Pro on it.
After configuring the laptop, I noticed that network mappings would become unavailable after some time.
Current setup:
W2K Pro SP4
Local Admin account is also a Domain Admin account.
Installed Sygate firewall has been disabled.

Problem:
Laptop boots and acquires DHCP assigned IP address.
Can ping other PCs by IP and by name
Able to access network shares

After some time, ALL network resources are unavailable.

Did I fail to install some service that normally does not get installed on a Laptop?
Some LAN timeout setting?

Not sure how to proceed. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

We are having the same problem. Did you find a resolution?
We have 50+ Dell 810 laptops with Windows 2000 SP4 installed on them, and we do not plan to upgrade them to XP until this fall. They periodically lose connection to our network. We've tried everything we can think of: Reinstall netware client; install newer netware client; disable wireless; disable setting to allow shutdown of network card to save power, and nothing has resolved the problem. Users are getting upset, but we just don't have the resources to upgrade to XP now. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does Dell have any ideas since we are a good customer!
