Welcome to the forums P :emotion-21:

Did you install the chipset drivers as well/first?

But you should also install drivers in a specific order - as advised here :emotion-55:

Hey,

Thanks for that reply! I did uninstall and reinstall the drivers again.. However, I found the problem.. I was missing a Wireless Connection driver.. That particular driver did not exists in the Resource CD.. so i had to download it from Dell Support.. Once I installed that.. BAM!!! The wireless thingy popped up :)

Anyways, thanks a lot for that help.. Atleast I did learn something about installing drivers in my comp ;)

Hi,

Thanks a lot for that link ! I did install the chipset drivers.. but i don rem exactly if I did it before or after the wireless..

Anyhow.. I assume the order of drivers installation is irrespective of the OS (I am Windows XP Home Edition).. Moreover, if I have installed the drivers, do u recommend I uninstall them and re-install in the order that u have mentioned cos I installed them in RANDOM order :(((

Please let me know that !

Thanks you

P

No no.  It's not worth uninstalling them again, if the only problem you're having, is that you don't have a wireless connection.

But I would advise reinstalling/updating the network drivers at least, since those are obviously required for wireless internet access.

Can I ask how you connect to the internet from the laptop.  I assume you have a wireless router?

Assuming you do:  If - after rebooting the system, you still aren't able to connect to your wireless network/router, I'd check the router settings, to make sure nothing has changed?

It would also be an idea to reset the router (just switch it off then on again, if there's no reset button).  Doing so can sometimes cure problems.

Good luck :emotion-21:
