Dell XPS 15 (L502X) Wireless networking issue

Hi, I just got an XPS 15 (L502X). It comes with the McAfee internet security suite. I tries to connect my other laptop wireless to my XPS 15 through the Intel My WiFi Technology access point option so that i could share my LAN internet connection. Whilst the other laptop connects wireless with the XPS 15. The internet connection sharing only works when i disable the McAfee firewall. I would be extremely grateful if someone could help me out to configure the firewall.

Many Thanks

Hello,

Have you tried creating an exception?  If you manually create an exception for the program (the .exe file for Intel My WiFi Technology) McAfee will view it as a trusted program and let it through, and you won't have to expose your computer to virus /spyware whatever because McAfee will still be running for everything else.

Hi Micheal

I tried the exemption setting but no luck. I also tried to giving the firewall the ip address of the connecting laptop but still no luck.

Anyways I am planning to contact the guys at Mcafee to see waht they say

Thanks alot

I will keep u update on what happens.

In the mean time if you get any ideas pls let me know

Cheers

Did you read the McAfee log files?  These might tell you what is taking place.

Raveen,

There was a recent update from McAfee that caused connection problems. Use system restore and go back before Saturday night. Then update McAfee and you should be able to connect.
