Dell XPS 8700 wireless adapter disabled
I have used my new Dell XPS 8700 for only a few days now. Worked fine at first and then wireless problems occurred. The wireless connection shut off automatically a few times and when I looked the Wi-Fi adapter was disabled. I fixed it a few times, but it reoccurred over and over through the next two days. I tried to enable it manually but it simply popped up a message that said it had enabled it, but never actually enabled it. I tried this over and over.
I can now no longer see my wireless networks in the computer and when I try to troubleshoot it asks me to plug in an ethernet cable or turn on the wireless adapter. I even plugged in an external wireless adapter and tried to connect and it still would not allow it to connect. How could my system go from running fine to unable to even activate it's wireless adapter in two or three days?

I'm having this problem too. Just set mine up 2 days ago. So far restarting the machine gets the adapter going again but it has problems again after a few hours.

I have had the exact same problem!
This may be a dumb question, but do you have anything sitting on top of the tower or any devices in the accessory tray by the USB ports on top?
I had an external drive sitting in there and had a left a small box on the back end of the top. When I opened the computer to make sure the wifi card was seated properly and there were no loose wires, I saw two wires that wrap around the back fan and disappear up into the roof of the chassis. The idea occurred to me maybe it went to a wifi receiver and I was somehow blocking it or interfering with it.
I have no idea if that's true, but I took everything off the top last night and my wifi has been working ever since. I left it on so my Carbonite could complete its online back-up. When this is done, I may put stuff back on top and see if it loses connectivity again. Or it could just be coincidence and I'll lose it again later. But I thought I'd throw that out there just in case I'm on to something! Good luck!
