dell xps15z wifi issue

Hi,

Quick questions, which version of the 15z does your daughter have and what wireless card are in her system?  (I'm also assuming you're using Windows 7 in that system).

My first thought is that it is a power setting in your wireless driver.  The system is either going to sleep or hibernating, and the wireless card is powered down, thus losing connection.  Then, it is taking a while for the system to power the card back on before it makes connections.   I am guessing that your daughter shuts the lid on the system at night, or on her way to class, etc., essentially hibernating the system.  

My first suggestion would be to update the wireless driver on that system by going to our main Dell support site, inputting the service tag of the system, and then clicking on Drivers & Downloads when the pages refresh.  Look for the networking category under drivers and select the driver for your wireless card.  

If the problem continues, or you already have the most up to date driver, then we can go into the settings / control panel for your wireless card and check the power settings.  But to give you more info on that we would need to know the wireless card in your system and the operating system you are running. Let us know that and, if needed, we can try and find more information for you.

Try checking, and changing, the power management settings on the Intel wireless card to see if that helps or not.
