First, please stop yelling. We can hear you just fine without you typing in all caps.

Do I understand this right - previously you heard dial tone, dialing sounds, and the connect sequence directly from the modem (internal to the case) and now you hear those same sounds through the system speakers?

Do you want the sound turned off? Or do you want it back internal to the case?

Did you install or run any Telephone Answering Device (TAD) applications? If so, that app may have changed you settings.

There should be a speaker icon in your 'Notification Area' (systray). Double click on this and look for a slider labeled 'Telephone', 'Modem', 'TAD', or similar. Mute it. That should turn off the modem sounds to the speakers.

To control the sound from the modem itself using AOL, you will have to go into the AOL modem setup screens. This page is quite old, but should get you into the right area.
