Dimension 2200 & Wireless Adapter

I purchased a Wireless adapter for my "older" computer located upstairs. Have loaded the driver and the card to my Dimension 2200, with the wireless router attached to my "new" computer located downstairs.

The adapter will not work, keeps locking up the system.
