Does My Inspiron 17R N7010 Have Bluetooth (BT)

Pretty simple question.  Does MY Inspiron 17R N7010 have bluetooth (BT), in the native hardware build.  I have poured all over the posts on the internet.  Mostly, people ask how to install drivers and activate BT.  Most people presume they have BT.  A clear answer, to a clear question is usually not available.

So, I checked MY computer tag.  It reads Service tag removed per privacy policy>.  The product info for this service tag appears at: http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/Servicetag/< ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>

When I review the datasheet, I cannot find anything that suggests a BT hardware device or any associated BT software is installed.  So, is my N7010 equipped with BT, or not.  I think my machine does not have a BT card.  I need some confirmation.

I booted into BIOS.  I DID get to the advanced networking page and it DID show a reference to a BT feature and it WAS enabled.  So what?  So, when the BT appears in the BIOS does it actually sense that YES their is a BT hardware device installed, or is this just a firmware option that comes with all BIOS loads.

I loaded several device drivers and patches today, in a big easter egg hunt, with no dumb luck.  Finally had to do a system restore since I got caught with incomplete device driver Installs and Uninstalls.  I have my machine for a while now and never thought about BT before, so this is my first exposure to BT and the N7010.

I looked at videos for the disassembly of the N7010.  The BT card is buried way way inside the PC.  Ouch.  It is a big job to try to repair or put one in, after the fact.  What should I know about my system?

Hi bmoke72,

The Inspiron N7010 system is offered with internal Dell Wireless 365 2.1 Bluetooth Adapter daughter card:

Good to know information:

  • Check the BIOS to ensure the wireless card is detected. Also verify the Wireless setting is turned on and not set to Always Off.
  • If the Bluetooth device is installed, also verify the radio is enabled. You can turn the wireless and Bluetooth cards on or off using the F2 key.

Please reply for any further help.

What if my Inspiron N7010 did not come with a bluetooth card in it, can I add it?
