Update: The Intel Pro/wireless 2200bg  connection drivers is installed from the Dell resource CD.

Although we couldn't find our exact system model on the CD,as we were looking for XPSM140 from the dell resource CD,but the system properties lists out system as Dell xps MXC051.

But MXC051 does not provide drivers for the Intel Pro /wireless 2200bg connection, unless we miss it somehow, but  the Intel Pro /wireless 2200bg drivers were listed under many of the system models on the dell resource cd so we installed from there.

Still need help,on the taskbar wireless network connection icon it says, wireless network connection 4 not connected, another taskbar icon says wireless is turn off.

Where do we go from here? Thanks.

Thanks, taskbar says windows is currently managing this wireless device.

Wireless network connection icon says.no wireless network were found in range.

I also uninstalled from control panel last night something about wireless power managing software or something like that along with the Intel Pro/Wireless 2200gb drivers. But when I reinstalled the drivers for the Intel Pro/Wireless 2200gb network connection, the above software did not installed.

Update:Wireless internet connection is now established since this afternoon,so far very stable, not a single disconnecting yet. This was done after changing the SSIDD name and generating a new key at the router's configuration screen.Plus:

Downloaded Intel Pro/wireless 2200BG drivers version 10.1.0.0,during installation,I was given options to install wherever I choose,I directed it to c drive but I can't find the file anywhere in the system after installation.

My c drive icon is changed to the Intel blue wireless icon,my  2200bg driver version 9.0.0.61 did not changed to the installed version 10.1.0.0,I still have my old version 9.0.0.61.

How do I reverse the c drive icon to it previous state? And how can I  find this file version 10.1.0.0?

Thanks.

Update: The c:/ drive icon is now back to its original icon.I think the Dell Support software on the taskbar that monitors the system detected the changes the Intel drivers made, particularly the Auto run part of the Intel 2200bg drivers and offered to fix it.It did fixed it, so this afternoon when the laptop was turned on the icon was reverse back to the original icon.

BTW, the wireless connection to the internet is still connecting without dropping after the ssidd and key changes on ther router's screen and the Intel driver installation. Thanks.
