Dropped by Portable phone

Question

I have bought a Dell Inspiron E 1505.  I am using a Netgear router WGR614  and the Wireless card in my laptop is an Intel Pro/wireless 3945.  Both the card and the router work in the 2.4 ghz range.  I have two portable telephones in the house that also work in the 2.4 ghz range.  When one or the other telephone goes off hook, it disconnects me from my router??   What do I do??  But new telephones????  Thanks for the help

Unfortunately that may be your only solution since this is a common issue with houshold 2.4G devices. The new 5.8G phones won't interfere with your router. You could also try relocating your router somewhere else in the room or higher up on the wall...might help ;>)

I too have 2.4 Ghz cordless phones all over my house. They rarely, if ever, interefere with my wireless network. I have eliminated most of the interference by setting the channel that router uses to one of the extreme channels (1 or 11). Give that a try and see if it fixes your problem.

This happens to you beacuse of the Wireless Portable Phone. You see that means that it is on the same wirless frequnecy as your router and that you will notbeable to use the phones with the computer at the same time. There should be a way to change the wireless frequnicy on the portable phones so this will not happen.

See i work with a theatre sound system and wireless Microphones and i have frequnce problems all of the time and there are always ways to fix them.
