DSL Internet Connection Disconnects When Idle
My DSL connection disconnects on me when idle for more than 1/2 hour or so. I have changed modem, checked DSL and phone line, had tech to the house. I've set all my USB ports to not turn off to save power. My computer is set not to hybernate. My monitor is set to stay on. I do not have a phone on the DSL line at all. I have not installed new programs, I do not have programs running in the background. If I leave a few sites open and leave my computer for a while, I'll come back and have to reset the modem every time. Strange thing is that if I also leave my "Itunes" program playing a radio stream, the connection will stay on all day, no problem. This leaves me to believe Internet is disconnecting because it's idle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm running Windows XP on a 2-year old Dell Dimension.

I'm asking because your problem sounds similiar to folk with dialup where somewhere under properties of your connection, a checkbox was ticked to disconnect when idle for x minutes.
sorry I can't be more specific as I use a router.
