E1505 and Ethernet port not working

I posted this in the Inspiron section but maybe its best here.   Sorry for the repeat.

I have an Insipiron 1505 and my Ethernet port does not seem to be working.

Atlantic Broadband came to set-up me up and was unable to get the Ethernet port to work.   They ended up using a USB cable which worked fine.  I tried two other Cat-5 cables and none of them worked either so i don't believe its a cable issue.   When you plug into the Ethernet port, the light beside it is red/orange.

I have checked the Device Manager and have four items showing under "Network Adapters".   All of them have a normal icon.

Any help?

Have you run the diagnostics on the Broadcom controller?  (Start > All Programs > Broadcom > Broadcom Advanced Control Suite)

I just did and all but one passed.

The "on Chip CPU" came up as "Unsupported test for BCM 440x".   At the pass/fall section its listed as "N/A"

If your system is still under warranty, you should contact Dell Tech Support.   They are the only ones that can authorized replacement or repair.
