E1505 with 1500 Mini- not connecting to internet

I have a E1505 with 1500 Mini and a 6000 with an Intel PRO wireless 2200BG.   I'm connecting to a "pay for" WiFi connection.  Both computers show "connected" and when I launch IE on the 6000 I get a re-direct to the service's login page and can connect to the internet.   On the E1505 I show a WiFi connection, but IE will not re-direct (or it shows that it is trying too, but I only get a blank page) and therefore can not login and connect.

I purchased the E1505 in Oct 2006 and have downloaded and installed the driver update for the 1500 mini.  Both laptops are side by side but only the 6000 will consistantly connect.  Both are on XP with IE7.  I also have Firefox on the E1505 but it will not bring up the login screen either.

I've run ipconfig/all and it's showing the connection.  I've pinged the DG and get mixed results each time (ex. 1 packet loss, 3 timed out).   I was able to connect yesterday for several hours, got disconnected and haven't been able to connect since.    I'm thinking that the 1500 Mini is not strong enough to pick up the signal and maybe I need an external antenna.  Any ideas or suggestions?

thanks!
Bianca

On the E1505 do you have a firewall installed? If so disable this and see if you can connect. It may be that the firewall needs to be configured. You also should make sure that you DW1500 is set to 802.11g mode or a mixed mode since the likelihood of the router you are connecting to is not Draft-n. If your DW1500 is set to n mode only and this is a g router you will have difficulty getting online. Also be sure you double check the encryption code to the router. If the router is encrypted and the key is not entered correctly it will show connected but once you try to get online it will not.

Thank you Gina. I think it is the mode setting. I've tried with firewall off and on and that didn't make a difference. The network that I'm connecting to is not encrypted so that's not the problem. I went in and changed the IBSS Mode (is this the correct one?) to 802.11a/b/g/n auto (it was on 802.11b only). Is there any other option in the configuration that I should change? thanks, Bianca
