email attachments won't open
For the last month I have not been able to open any email attachments. I don't know how to troubleshoot this problem.

Do you know what type the email attachments are?
Control panel, folder options, view, then uncheck the hide extensions for known file types. You should then see the file extension after the file name, like show.pps, pict.jpeg, etc.
