Error 1327 Drive F:\ is not valid

I get this message when I try to update software, such as Quickbooks, or when I try to download an update from Microsoft, etc. I even get it when I try to remove programs that I no longer use. Can anyone talk me through the solution to this problem? I have read some about value code, but it is not clear.
