Ethernet Adapter
I recently reinstalled XP home on my Dimension 4550, and now the computer can not find the drivers for the ethernet adapter built into the motherboard, after trying to find the specs for the mobo about the adapter and being unsuccessfull i came here. i am not sure where to find the drivers for my adapter. a link to the adapter, or some where where i can find out about my adapter would be greatly appricated.

For future reference, you can locate all Dell's drivers for your system by clicking on "Downloads" under "Product Support" at the top of the Forum window. You'll need your machine's Service Tag number to retrieve the list.
Here's the list of all XP downloads for the 4550. You'll likely need at least two of them - The Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility should be installed first, right after XP itself is reinstalled. Without it, none of the integrated devices will be recognized.
There are two possible candidates for the network adapter. The Intel 10/100 LOM is the most likely one, but I believe the Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet adapter is also available as an integrated option for the 4550. Which one your system has will be listed on the Dell invoice, or on the "as-shipped" list for your system, which is available from Product Support/Service and Warranties.
