Ethernet and WIFI adapters non-responsive (XPS8300)

Hello,

I have an XPS8300 that has served me dutifully for several years. Now suddenly My network adapters for both Ethernet and WIFI have stopped working.  I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers for both, even replaced the wifi adapter with a newer USB model and still I'm getting the same problem.

The Ethernet is the on-board Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet that came standard with the desktop. The WIFI is a TP-LINK TL-WN823N USB adapter.
My router is a SageMcom Fast4350 which has worked well with my computer for over 2 years.

I could really use some help here, I'm hoping that someone out there has found a working fix for this sort of thing.

Is this running Windows 10 TH2 64 Bit? In my XPS 8300 I replaced my wireless card with an Intel AC 7260 and it works extremely well.

Hi,

If you are suddenly having issues with both the ethernet and wireless connections at the same time then it's not likely to be a driver issue.  Two separate components that don't share drivers.

Can you give us a bit more information about what you're seeing when you try to connect to your router?   (BTW, have you updated the firmware on that router lately?  Just to make sure it's fully up to date and not an issue with the router itself?  Try rebooting the router both with the ethernet cable plugged in and with it unplugged and see what happens).

Do you know how to check to see if you're getting an IP address from the router when you're plugged into it?  What makes you believe it's the network adapters and not an issue with your browsers?  Are you seeing any error messages that will help us determine what is going on?

That link assumes you're running Windows 8.1 on the system.  Is that what you're still running or have you upgraded to Windows 10?

Here is a link to our Dell Networking & Wireless Support Center that will have some basic troubleshooting steps in it that may be of help to you.

To better help me troubleshoot this issue please right click on my Dell Todd username and send me a private message with the Dell Service Tag of your XPS 8300.  Please keep all troubleshooting discussions here on this thread so that others can see what is discussed.

Thank you,

Todd
