Ethernet included?

I am no expert in computers. I will be going to college soon and I want to buy a laptop. I was wondering if the outlet for the ethernet cable is included in the basics. If not, what do I need to buy from Dell.

I'm not sure what you mean by "ethernet outlet", but if you mean ethernet adapter, then yes, most of the current Dell models have an ethernet adapter.  If you could specify the model you are looking at, then we could tell you for sure.

Well, I need the thing to put the ethernet cable in. I do not know what that is called. Also, will the wireless card that I want to buy work with Linksys?

The ethernet adapter is in Red, above.  The system already has a wireless network card (in green above).  This card will work with a Linksys router, but don't bother getting the super high speed wireless router because the high speed will not work with that wireless card.  You don't need the high speed anyway because the 54 Mbps speed is much faster than any cable or dsl connection.

All current Dell models have ethernet integrated on the motherboard. This includes yours.
