Failed to connect to a Windows Service
Hello - I am regularly seeing a pop-up slide in from the lower right corner of my screen upon startup giving me a warning to the effect of the above subject line. Chrome will not launch after that (sometimes it does after 15-20 minutes) and my entire machine runs noticeably slower. All my other home devices work fine - it's just this one Dell laptop.
It's a Dell Inspiron 15 (7458) and now runs Windows 10 though I noticed it since I bought it running Windows 8.1 last May. Periodically restarting 2 or 3 times would resolve the issue for a while but today nothing is working to fix it. Thanks in advance for any help or guidance!

Hi,
I found this article on the Microsoft Answers web pages that might be of help to you:
Error Msg- failed to connect to Window service (Windows 10)
Check out their solution and let us know if it helps. Please click on my Dell Todd username and send me a PM with the Dell Service Tag of your system if this doesn't help resolve the problem, to help me troubleshoot the issue. Please keep discussions and troubleshooting here in this public thread so others can see what was done to resolve the problem.

Hi Todd,
I did a Clean Boot and the Microsoft Safety Scanner revealed no issues. I turned off / Disabled a couple of Services that were by default Enabled for Startup - "Send to OneNote Tool" (I use OneNote but not that particular functionality) and "Microsoft OneDrive" (I use Google Drive and DropBox so OneDrive is a duplicated waste of resources for me). I also uninstalled Chrome and have been using Firefox.
Not sure which if any of these actions resulted in no issues (so far) but for now I haven't had an issue.
Thanks - steve

I spoke too soon. That error banner appeared twice in a row upon boot now so the issue still isn't resolved. Per your iitial response I will click on your name Todd and send you my Service Tag number to continue resolving.

I am unable to connect to any of the Dell app links (except the store of course) on my 8700. What's the fix.
