Failure of disabling LAN through Network Connections.

Question

Originally posted in wrong forum - this is the copy/paste of my original question.

I have always been able to open network connections, right click Local Area Connection, click disable. No problems until today. Now when I try to disable it, I get the following error: "It is not possible to disable the connection at this time. This connection may be using one or more protocols that do not support Plug-and-Play, or it may have been intiated by another user or the system account."

I have rebooted to safe mode with network connections as administrator as well the other users, tried to disable from here, and I get the same error message.

All of my virus scans, adware, etc. find nothing.

I have to manually unplug cable.

Short of blowing up computer, any help would be appreciated.

It seems as if you have someone what i call 'stealing internet' If you have a wireless router this could be the main problem, or is you have DSL or Cable internet someone can be 'stealing cable' and or phone and could be accessing the internet through your computer.   I would call in your internet provider and have them check out the system lines. Unfortunaly the only way to disable it is to unplug, click disable, and replug in your network cable. At this time. I found that I could Enable and Disable using the following steps:

1. Start

2. Right click My Computer

3. Select “Properties”

4. Select “Hardware”

5. Select “Device Manager”

6. Find “Network adaptors”

7. Click the “+” sign to open the folder

8. Right click your adaptor and select either “Enable” or “Disable”
