GX1 WoL - is wakeup from shutdown state possible?

Following the various threads in this forum, I finally got WOL working ... sort of.

I can wake the this GX1 with a magic packet, but only from standby mode.
If I perform a clean shutdown, ( Start Menu -> shutdown -> Shutdown...) I can't wake the system - I have to hit the power button..

Is this a limitation of the WOL implemenation? -Has anyone got WOL working from a *shutdown* state running Win98se?

Looking for confirmations or clarifications.

This is what I have done so far...
I'm running win98se with bios ver A10. The WOL option in Bios is enabled.
ACPI is also enabled in bios.
Using 3com EtherCD v5.4 drivers off of 3Com's site.
Downloaded windiags.exe from 3com and ran "UPDATE.EXE /diag" to install the 3Com NIC Doctor (tcaudiag.exe). Ran "tcaudiag.exe -a" and enabled Magic Packet under the "remote wake-up" option in the Confiugration tab. Finally, entered Win98's Device manager -> Network Adapters -> [3Com NIC] -> Properties, Power Management Tab - checked "Allow the computer to turn off this device" and checked "Checked Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby".

This is an early GX1.
It's a rev. 1 motherboard, with integrated 3com NIC.
tcaudiag -> nic details ->
- product date code July 3, 1997.
- Division Code 00B7.
- ASIC revision 09h.

It works,

You need a utility called bitflip to enable it.

Any hints where I might find this bitflip util?
Google came up empty, as did Dell's site search.

Thanks.

Issue Resolved.

The bitflip utility mentioned in this thread, appears to have enabled the "Remote Wake-Up Connector" functionality of the integrated NIC.

Running TCAUDIAG.EXE -> Nic Details, the line
"Remote Wake-Up Connector" now says "Yes (Level)" instead of "No".

Now WOL works from the shutdown (ACPI S5) state on this GX1.

Thanks to Droid256.

PS.
For anyone thinking of using WOL in conjunction with MS Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), I learned that ICS prevents the computer sharing the connection from entering Standby (S3).
