Hardwired Desktop WIFI Laptop Which ISP ?
Hello its me your friendly neighbourhood TECHNOPHOBE!
I have a problem. NOT THAT ONE ! I am currently using AOL as my ISP. However they are messing me around and I am looking to change provider. However I have been warned that certain providers only give you a Modem/Wireless router that is capable of either hardwire adsl modem or WiFi.
I am operation an old Dimension 2300 as my desktop. Its got P4 2.6ghz processor and 1GB Ram (hope that's right LOL)
My Laptop is Inspiron 1525 Intel Core duo 2.0 ghz processor and 4bg Ram Wifi enabled.
My problem being that I don't know how to make the desktop wifi if its possible?
Or if I can find a service provider that can allow me to do both and have either one hard wire and one wifi.
NOW I AM CONFUSED!
So if anyone can help I would really appreciate it.
regards
David

If you get a cable or dsl modem, then you can add a wireless router. A wireless router would connect to the cable or dsl modem to get its internet service and would allow the connection of up to 4 computers to the router's 4 ethernet ports and connection of many more computers by wireless. If the ISP provides a modem/wireless router combination, this still would allow the connection of at least one computer by wired ethernet and many more by wireless. Thus, you have at least two options.
