HELP! Can anyone help a first time WIN XP home networker?
I need to know how to remove a home network from my computer. at least I think thats what I need to do.. I just bought a LINKSYS wirelessG router and have two dell computers hooked up to it. When I went to set up teh home network in XP, I created one by the default name of MShome on a computer that is not the internet host. I think I started on the wrong machine and I cannot figure out how to remove the network I started so I can go back and begin a correct on on my host computer. I cannot create a network now on the host computer because it keeps wanting to go to the one I created on the non-host computer. If you can help I would be SO grateful! thanks so much,

There is no host computer when you are using a router. It is the DHCP server. Delete your connections. Make sure you have the same Workgroup and different names for the computers same protocols installed on both computers. Client for Microsoft Networks,Printer and File Sharing enabled and TCP/IP with (netbios over tcp/ip enabled % obtain an address automatically) Share some folders. Go to the run box and type inetwiz go through there and choose a broadband connection that is always on. Reboot everything and your network should be up and running with the network wizard. If you have Home you will have to enable the Guest account with password preferred. Same if you are using Pro with simple file sharing.
In the wireless connections uncheck authentication. Rightclick the wireless connection and connect. My router usually plunks the SSID and default channel in for me, but make sure they are the same. You shouldn't have to do that(connect) again, the only time I do is when I clean install or put in another card.
