Help with Intell 2200BG Wireless Card

Question

So, a few months ago, I had to reformat due to a virus.  I have since then got everything working again, but not my wireless card.  The model number for my car is an Intel WM3A2200BG.  I have tried installing drivers for it, but it still doesn't see the device.  I have tried the Intel Device Detector and it shows nothing.  I haven't messed with the card or taken it out.  The system just doesn't seem to see it.  After I installed the drivers for it, I get a few errors.  When I first click on the properties for the wireless device, it says 'Adapter state not found in registry'.  You press ok and it proceeds to the properties window.  Under the device status, it reads 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)'   Anyways, any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!  -Alex

Did you install the chipset drivers as the first drivers installed after reinstallation of Windows? Without the chipset drivers, Windows will not be able to recognize or install drivers for many other devices. Once the chipset drivers are installed you need to install the drivers for your network adapters, video adapter, audio adapter, and modem.   Steve

Just in case it matters, the laptop is a Inspiron 6000, 1.6GHz, running on XP Pro SP2.

Yeah, I did install Chipset before I reinstalled everything.  Is there a way to delete all the drivers and start over installing them all in order to make sure?

Sometimes this works - go into device manager, remove all of the devices that you may have installed before installing the chipset drivers.  Reboot, install the chipset drivers, then install the other device drivers.  Sometimes it's just easiest to start all over, reformatting, installing Windows, then installing the drivers in the correct order.   Steve

Fixed the problem.  The mini-PCI slot had been turned off in the bios, so I had to turn that back on and what do ya know, IT WORKS!!  Thanks for the help!

i  am a big time begginer with computer where is the mini pci slot located.. ive been having issues with my wireless adapter on my device manager it has a yellow exclamation point, how can i fix this

alexmik,   You need to start a new thread rather than tacking your message onto an already existing thread.   It gets very confusing trying to help more than one person in the same thread and it is not very considerate of the person who originally started the thread.  Please note that no one will be able to help you with knowing which model computer you have, so please post that information when you start the new thread.  Also be sure to tell us whether or not you have recently reinstalled Windows on this machine.   Steve
