"HELPPPPP" - 1 DAY OLD, Inspiron13 7000 series, Intel D/Band W/less AC 3165 adapter driver/hardware problem. NO CONNECTION TO WIFI

I have just received delivery of my notebook yesterday. I have just unpacked it today and expecting the notebook to pick up my wifi connection at home.

I have done a trouble shoot and it has come up saying that the Intel (R) Dual Band Wireless AC 3165 Adapter is experiencing driver / hardware related problem.

Being the weekend, Dell is not on call for support. I need this computer connected to my wifi urgently due to uni starting on Monday.

Can anyone make any suggestions before I call Dell on Monday morning.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,

I hope you've gotten this resolved but if not here are a few support articles you may want to check out to see if they help.

Wireless Networking for the Home for Windows 10

Resolving Connection Issues on Your Wi-Fi Network for Windows 10

Since your troubleshooting shows driver / hardware issues have you tried downloading the latest driver from Dell's support site? If you key in your Dell Service Tag the web site will redirect you to pages specific to your model.  There you can click on the Drivers & Downloads link and make sure it's filtered for the correct operating system (I'm assuming Windows 10).  Look under the Networking category and download the latest driver for the Intel 3165 wireless card.

Another quick question, are you seeing the wireless networks and unable to connect or is your system not even seeing the networks at all?

If you are seeing networks but unable to connect, in the first link I provided to you there are steps to update the firmware of your router.   Just like drivers on the wireless cards the routers need to be updated in order to handle communication with Windows 10 systems.   Please make sure you update that firmware and it may help resolve the problem you're seeing.

In order for me to better troubleshoot this issue please right click on my Dell Todd username and send me a private message with the Dell Service tag of your Inspiron 13.   Please keep all troubleshooting discussions here on this public thread so that others can see what is discussed.

Thank you,

Todd

Hi Helen-k,

Since your system is not seeing any wireless networks you can use a network cable to plug directly into the router / modem to get internet connection.

You may also want to see if you, or someone that has more experience working on laptops, can reseat the wireless card and make sure that it did not come loose during shipping / delivery.   Here is a link to the online manual for the Inspiron 13 7359, and starting on page 29 it shows how to access the wireless card.  You would simply check that it is fully seated into it's slot and that the antenna wires are fully connected to the wireless card.
