Hi everyone, I need a little help!

I have a Dimension 3100. This has been going on since I moved to my new house and hooked the computer back up. My kids be on here alot and I did not know it was a problem until my son said he could not see his background no more on a site like bear share or facebook. So I went to msn.com because I knew that background was blue and it was white also. I tried to look at the settings in internet options from control panel but had no such luck....Thank U so much for responding to me!

Is this a new problme ort soemthing that has been happening for quite some time?  Which version of IE?

As a trouble shooting step, download and install Firefox as and alternate browser and see if you gett he same results.  If so, we will startlooking at your harwdare.

 

What are the display properties?  Control Panle>Display>Advanced> 16 or 32 bit?

Ahhhhhh, the magic words.  Kids and Sharing sites.

 

I would suspect you have have malware(spyware) on your system.  You should downlaod and install something like AdAware, let it scan and see what turns up.

 

Now, you should think immediately, about creating limited user accounts for yoir kids. One that would not allow them to downlaod or install programs.

I have SBC Yahoo anti-spy (need to upgrade to att anti-spy, service provider ofers for free) and I have ran the scan and nothing ever comes up but when I check for cookies things come up. I called dell but my warn is up, the cust rep said it may be in my internet browsing settings but could not help much futher unless I bought the warn for $239. So I am trying to fix problem myself before I take the next step. 

Display properties are 32 bit.

 Do you think it can be my memory? I say this because when I tried to upgrade to AT&T Anti virus from the SBC version it said I only had 247 RAMS and to download the AT&T version I need 516 (i think) RAMS so I also have to get memory and have made a appointment to take it to best buy for that. But the cust rep from Dell say it was not that and thats why I was trying to fix myself because if I end up spending alot of money for memory and new warn for Dell to help me fix the computer I would be half way to buying a new computer. The only thing that is wrong is I cant see backgrounds or layouts on websites, they are white, but everything else seems to be working fine. Now the computer does run slow and from my understanding this is due to me needing more memory. Do you think this is a bit much for me to try and fix it myself due to not having that much understanding of computers, I say this because you said it may be hard for us to diagnose the issue?

No everthing still looks the same. msn.com background is still white.

Without suggesting that you make sure you have the best possible video driver, this is a little hard to diagnose.

 

Are there any Yellow Excalmation marks in the Drive Manager?  (Right Click My Computer>Properties>Device Manager)
