How do I Indentify what ports are open?

Hello I have Deminsion 3000 with 512 memory and I have the free eduition of Zonelabs firewall running and when I am not on the net I see the status indecator lit up and is that saying that my computer is trying to communicate with some thing ? or is that just saying that there is a port that is left open ?

You can go to www.grc.com and test your firewall using their "sheilds up" testing and reporting application. It is online, free and is a good indicator of open ports on your system.

What is the exact message that ZoneAlarm gives you in the popup box?
