Here is the support page for your computer. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1501/en/sm_en/index.htm

click here for the inspiron 1501 page
are you sure its hardware? it could just be a problem with your windows or a faulty driver.
- dell notebooks for most cases come with integrated Wireless Cards. check your invoice if you have the broadcom integrated WLAN or dell mini-card.
Goodluck :-*

hi,
so is everything okay now? as far as replacing the card, it should be on the support page manual.
to be honest i don't know jack squat bout linux, i'm a newbie. oh btw, is your system still under warranty? from what i know dell wouldn't support other OS thats not factory installed.
do you mind if ask what version of linux you have now? i'm trying to install Ubuntu. whats the best one thus far?

I have ubuntu from dell, it installed fine, no my system is not under warranty. I haven't been able to find the support page. As for support what does the OS have to do with the Mini card installation?
