how to connect to the internet with two computers at same time

I have a dell laptop and a desktop. I want to connect to the internet with both the computer at the same time. How is that possible. I tried to use the networking but I am not sure if I did the right thing. Could you please help me. Thanks.

I know of 2 wireless routers that support and dial an external hardware modem.  D-Link's DI-713p and SMC's SMC7004AWBR are the two models, though the SMC is hard to find now.  Both are 802.11b (11mb) and also have a built-in print server.
