How to turn on Wi-Fi..??

Question

If I want to turn on the Wi-Fi..I press Fn+F2..

But it turns on only Bluetooth.. So how do I turn on the Wi-Fi..??

Also some of the symbols are not displayed properly.. I press some other key and some other character is displayed..

Please help sort this out..especially the second one..

Hi srohit,

To assist you better, please reply with the model no. of the system. You can also check the Wi-Fi connection status in 'Windows Mobility Center'.
You can access Windows Mobility Center using the following key combination 'Windows key + X'. Click on 'Launch' under 'Radio control options', ensure that all the options are checked.

Please ensure that 'Quickset' is installed on the computer. If not, then you can download it from our support site.

Type the Service Tag of the computer
Choose the operating system
Click on Application, look for 'Quickset', download and install the application

Model is Inspiron 5520.. Windows 8..

I installed the application..but still Fn+F2 switches on Bluetooth and WiFi is still shown as Off..

All options are also checked under Radio Control Options..

So what to do..??

Hi Srohit,

Thank you for the response. Did you try to turn off the Wifi in Windows Mobility Center? Please check the following settings

Using the mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, then click 'Change PC settings'
Click Wireless, then make sure Airplane mode is set to 'Off' and your wireless device is set to On

Please check the wireless light on the front of the laptop:

Please reply with the findings.

Thanks for your reply.. The Wi-Fi is working fine.. But please help me sort out the keyboard issue also.. Some of the symbols are not displayed when the corresponding key is pressed.. Instead, some another symbol is displayed.. Eg. 1.when I press Shift+2, ' is displayed instead of @, and shift+' displays @.. 2.Backslash key displays # symbol, Shift+3 displays £ symbol. 3.Shift+backslash displays ~ symbol.. Help me with this..

I have same problem, in my laptop I was re install windows 7 and drivers but now wi fi and lan driver not supported so what can I do.

Hi Srohit,

Let try the following steps:

Right click on the bottom left hand side of the screen -> choose 'Control Panel' -> Ease of Access -> Ease of Access Center -> Make the keyboard easier to use and uncheck all the options. Click on ‘Apply’ -> Ok. Restart the computer and check.

Alternatively, check the on screen keyboard:

Click ‘Start’
Type ‘on screen keyboard’ without the parenthesis, click ‘On screen keyboard’
Use the keyboard and check if you face the same issue (use the mouse/touchpad to use the on screen keyboard)

I would suggest you to change the keyboard layout settings:

Press and hold the Windows key and press 'R' key. This will open the run window
Type ‘intl.cpl’ in the start search box, press ‘ENTER’
Click on the ‘Keyboards and Language tab’, click ‘Change keyboards’
Under ‘Default input language’, ensure that ‘English (United States)- US’ is selected
Under ‘Installed Services’, remove all the language options you are able to see (to remove the language, highlight the language and click on remove)
Click ‘Add’
Expand the language ‘English’
Expand ‘Keyboard’ list, select the ‘United States-International’, check the box, and then click ‘OK’
