OK, this whole wireless thing is new to me...so pardon me for sounding like an idiot. Yes, the wireless Network Connection does show up, as not connected. Ia lso have a 1394 connection and it is saying that I am connected.
I have an Inspiron 6000 with the NETGEAR wireless router. I followed the directions exactly. I even called tech support. I was on the phone for an hour and a half and got vbounced trhough 4 different people and then disconnected. I have it all hooked up, but the response on the computer is "unable to connect". I made sure all connections were tight. I noticed on my router that the wireless light is not lighting up.
Go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections. Does your wireless network card show up there? If it does, right click the wireless network and select "View Available Wireless Networks". Does you wireless network show up there? If it does, click on the Connect button. Do you now have a connection?
you dont have a wireless connection is connected, that's why you can't connet to internet. the 1394 connection is for two computers transfer files or to share a internet connetion, if you know how to do that, but you do, it's still wired connection. i have the wireless connetion connected, still unable to use internet. :(
for me, i just turned on my Radio,it would automactly connected to the wireless router. you should check if your notebook's wireless adapter is on or not.
I have a second computer, but I am trying toset up this one for a wireless connection. And I just cannot get it to go. I know I am not that illiterate; I followed the directions that came with the wireless router, so now I am at a stand still. :smileysad:
Sorry, I did not return any messages. I was dealing with Hurricane Rita and no power for the last 4 days. I did exactly what one of my responses said to do, in order to connect. I went into the control panel and followed the instructions. I had done it several times, but I suppose the last time did the trick. Honestly, I wish I could tell you more. Also I believe that I did not fill out some information correctly. This was human error, and I apologize for not being of any more help.
