Infrared Port on D600

I am trying to get my Dell Latitude D600 Infrared Port to Work.  Currently, in Device Manager, the following alerts are active:

Infrared Devices: SMC IrCC - Fast Infrared Port : This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

Network adapters: Infrared Port: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

I ran the included diagnostic CD and it found no Problem and was able to access the ports (via DOS).  I can not find drivers to solve the problem.  Is there a solution?

Thanks,

Greesonjl

I have exactly the same problem.  Does anyone have the answer?

All,

You need to turn on your IR port in the BIOS. You two should enter your system’s BIOS (by pressing F2 while the system is booting) and toggle to the page that mentions the infra red port and turn it on.

Thanks, but I've done that.

It was only after I enabled it in the BIOS that it got listed in the device manager at all.

Agreed,

The first thing I did was check my BIOS setting and that was not it.  I finally got my IR Port to work, but have been racking my brain to remember how I did it.  It now works although the IR Port still says I have a problem with my network IR port, by the IR driver (SMC IrCC) now has no conflicts.

NINJA HAS THE FIX!!

Here is what you have to do. It will take the better part of 20 minutes.

On the system having the issue, there is going to be a folder calle:

C:\WINNT\Driver Cache\i386\driver.cab

From another system, probably a desktop or a laptop, you have to copy the following files onto a disk.

smcirda.sys         irda.sys       rasirda.sys      irftp.exe    imon.dll      wshirda     ir_end.wav

ir_inter.wav         ir_begin.wav     irprops.cpl     irsir.sys    irstusb.sys

Once you have all these files, copy them into the  C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386\driver.cab  folder.

Remember, it does not have to be a laptop, a desktop should have the files as well.

This will resolve your error on the IR port.

Thanks for listening,
