If the card you purchase supports G, then yes.

Thanks Steve.  What really happened is that I found this real BARGAIN on Buy.com - purchased a wireless card and when I received it I discovered that it was a WirelessB card (somehow I spaced through that important detail).  So - now I can't decide if I should send back the B card and exchange it for a G card.  "People" have told me that G is best!  What would you do??  If in fact my Inspiron 1100 will accept either type - then I want to get what will work best.

It depends on what you are going to use it for.  G is faster (54 Mbps), but the faster speed is only helpful if you transferring files between computers on the network.  Since broadband internet connections are rarely faster than 5 Mbps the 11 Mbps speed of 802.11b is more than enough for internet access.

You should be just fine with the Wireless B, I had tried both B and G and is the same thing...

Thanks Sachs!  I have decided to keep the B card and hope for the best.      Swanfries
