Inspiron 6000 doesn't know that router is there!

Hi! I hope someone can help me. I am not a techie so I need simple answers please!! I have an Inspiron 6000 with built in wireless, and I have bought a Dell 2350 router. When I install the router everything is fine until I get to configuring the wireless connection in my laptop. Then I am told that the setup wizard can't detect the router via the wireless connection. I have tried over and over, starting from scratch, and made sure everything is off in the flat eg tv, microwave etc! but still it doesn't work. What should I do now? Any help gratefully received.

To configure your router for a wireless connection, you should first connect to it by a wired etherent connection and use the web based configuration utility as outlined in the User's Guide for your router.   Once it is configured, you should then be able to connect to it through the wireless adapter.

Hi! I have used the Dell setup wizard which meant I connected first with a wired ethernet connection. Once I got past this stage the laptop tries to detect the router so it can configure the wireless connection, while the router is still wired to it, and then it says it can't detect it. This is where I am stuck so I hope you have more advice! Thanks.

Dell routers are notorious for shipping with faulty software.  As I said in my last post.  Use the web based configuration utility to configure the router.  Everything that can be done from the software can be done from the utility.  Dump the software (the setup wizard)  .  Read the user's guide.
