Inspiron 700M Wireless not relible

I just bought a 700M Laptop. I am having a strange problem with my wireless connection. Once I plug in the power adapter, the connection is pretty good. However, I unplug the power adatper and run the laptop on battery (8-cell), the connection become extramely slow and disconnect once a few minutes.

I contact Dell support, he suggested to remove the Intel wireless utility and activate the Windows utility. However, the problem remains.

Have any of you had any experience with this?
Please advise.

It is Intel Pro/wireless 2200, (802.11b/g) It is preinstalled by Dell.

Thanks.

try to check power settings in the card properties. Sometimes it goes on "low" when laptop is working off the battery. Change it to high.
Good luck.

Also, sometimes installing Intel original driver may also improve reception.

The power settings for the card (Network Connections\Wireless Network Connection properties\Configure for the card\scroll down the list) are almost certainly set to the default behavior of "maximum performance while on external power, lowest possible power consumption while on battery." If you're not getting 4-5 bars of signal on external power then you'll almost certainly have problems on lower power settings.

Even i have Inspiron 700m. In my laptop Winodws utility is not working, only Intel utility is working.

Background:
Somehow few adwares entered my laptop.I detected them using Antivirus & unistalled/deleted them.I edited the registry entries and deleted entries related to these adwares. After this incident my microsoft client/utility is not working. It says it detected wireless connection,But when click on it to select the wireless connection, it'll not show any of the available wireless networks. Now if i select Intel utility/Clinet, it works fine & detects all the wireless networks available.

Anybdy help me to resolve this problem??
