Inspiron 9300 Intel Driver Won't install

Hello

I just reformatted my computer and I've managed to install all the drivers from the drivers site, but the wireless adapter driver, the intel pro wireless set, (R126293.exe), does not install the wireless driver. It says it installs fine, and the Intel software installs, but when I click the intel wireless icon it tells me there's no wireless adapters configured. My connections folder also doesn't show it. Going into the device manager  I see an uninstalled network controller. When I point the Windows wizard to the folder where the driver should be (c:\dell\R12693\drivers\), it says the driver isn't there (though it does let me select the folder, which it won't do if there's no drivers at all).

Why wouldn't Dell's official drivers work? Any ideas?

(On a side note, someone really needs to clean up the driver downloads site. If I put in my service tag, it should only show drivers for my system, instead of the hundred options for network drivers that exist.)

it lists all possible options that could be sold with that system -- I wouldn't expect it to be service tag specific anytime soon (which is why it's easier just to search by system model).

are you sure you have that specific wireless card installed in your machine? if it's a different card it would explain why the drivers aren't installing.

I agree with Nemesis.. Does your packing material list it has an INTEL or something else. If Intel it should show you the number of the card. The inspiron has 2 other options besides the regular intel pro wireless. i saw a 2200 and a 2915.
