Intel My WiFi utility Problem

Hello Everyone,

I am using a dell  Vostro 3550 series, window 7 which I recently upgraded it to 64 bit from 32 bit and after that my Intel wi fi utility stop working. I can create the wifi  hot spot and connect my phones and laptops but its not sharing the internet. I've checked the "share my internet" button too but still then its the same result.

So please help me with this. Thank you

Akumtong Jamir,

You can enable the Intel My WiFi Technology, correct?

Try creating a profile and see if you can then add your device. I made my

security WPA-PSK

encryption TKIP

password what you want it to be. (Routers usually need a 13 character password, Don't think this applies with Intel My WiFi Technology)

advanced, I have mine on channel 11

Akumtong Jamir,

I couldn't figure out how to use WiFi Dashboard, so I downloaded the older drivers from the Installing My Wi-Fi Technology thread, using the link to Intel's website. I then save the drivers to the desktop.

I then made a system restore point.

Start, control panel, network adapter, right clicked on my adapter, left clicked uninstall. Told it to remove the drivers and software.

Restarted my computer.

The new hardware wizard tried to install the adapter, but failed. I then installed the drivers I saved to my desktop. Pay close attention to follow the instructions below.

Click on the little arrow and select...

This feature will be installed on local hard drive

Restart your computer when prompted or wait about two minutes after you click finished. When you restart your computer, you should have the WiFi Technology installed.

Click start, all programs, Intel ProSet Wireless, Intel My WiFi Technology. You can then enable the technology from there.

Hi Akumtong Jamir,

It appears to be an issue with operating system of your computer. You may back up all the data from computer and may perform an operating system re-installation. For more information on this, you may refer to link: http://dell.to/Qe7jyP

Note: Before you proceed, I will advise you to take a complete backup of your data (pictures, music, applications, videos, documents) as this step leads to complete data loss. Remove all the external peripherals (like printers, scanners, any USB device except keyboard and mouse) connected to your computer.

Once the operating system is installed, you may download and install the drivers for your computer from link: http://dell.to/124xm0d

You may find detailed instruction on installing drivers in correct order from link: http://dell.to/X1IKGu

Once done, try installing Intel My Wifi Dashboard and try configuring the set up as mentioned in previous link.

Please share the findings.

Don't know if anyone is still having trouble with internet connectivity on the connected laptop through the hosting laptop, but I found what looks to be a workaround. When checking the status of the wireless connection on the connected laptop, I noticed there was no listing for DNS servers. I found that I could ping the DNS server's IP address listed in the hosting laptop's internet connection from the connected laptop. So, for some reason the connected laptop was not grabbing the DNS settings. On the Wifi Miniport Adapter on my hosting laptop, I modified the TCP/IPv4 settings and manually inserted the virtual adapter IP address (192.168.137.1) in the primary DNS server space.

Boom. Internet connectivity on the connected laptop upon reset and reconnection. After checking the connection status, the DNS server was populated this time. Maybe I just got lucky, but it works like a champ now.

Cheers.
